HOW WE CONDUCT INTERNSHIPS

The Nebraska Sports Council offers paid internships, based on hours and workload, which offer excellent insight into the world of sport event management, health and wellness, and marketing/media relations. Selected interns have the opportunity to earn college credit as well as the experience necessary to compete for positions in these industries.

AVAILABLE INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

EVENT OPERATIONS INTERN

LINCOLN, NE | PAID INTERNSHIP |

Work closely with the staff and Sport Directors on all sport operation issues including data entry, entry filing, marketing, event preparation, athlete packet distribution and sponsorship/advertising sales. Will also work with event committees and management of sport databases. Help with miscellaneous activities during Opening Ceremonies of the Cornhusker State Games. Assist with miscellaneous competition duties as needed.

GRAPHIC DESIGN INTERN

LINCOLN, NE | PAID INTERNSHIP |

Work closely with the Director of Operations and the Marketing Director to help produce promotional materials, design the NSC Yearbook, produce fliers, design social media posts, etc. for the Cornhusker State Games. Assist with miscellaneous duties as needed.

MARKETING INTERN

LINCOLN, NE | PAID INTERNSHIP |

Work closely with the Director of Marketing, Sport Directors and media outlets to promote sports and recruit athletes. Develop marketing strategies to promote individual sports by identifying target audience. Assist staff in developing and implementing video strategy. Creating video files for publishing to website, social media and YouTube. Assist with miscellaneous duties as needed.

MEDIA RELATIONS/TORCH RUN INTERN

LINCOLN, NE | PAID INTERNSHIP |

Work closely with the Executive Director on all media relations issues including contact management, press release writing, athlete research for feature articles, blogging, social media integration and competition result distribution. Help with miscellaneous activities during the Cornhusker State Games. Work closely with the Director of Communications and Development on all Torch Run issues including route completion, runner recruiting and scheduling, lodging arrangements, county law enforcement escorts, customer service, mailings, marketing plan development and volunteer recruitment/supervision.

SALES INTERN

LINCOLN, NE | PAID INTERNSHIP |

Use contact software to organize sales leads/accounts. Work with area companies to fulfill sponsorship needs. Sell advertising, sponsorships, vendor booths, etc. Work with NSC Sales team to create innovative ways to attract new sales leads.

SOCIAL MEDIA INTERN

LINCOLN, NE | PAID INTERNSHIP |

Manages the company’s social media accounts and posts content. Develops campaign ideas. Monitor various social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter, TikTok, etc. Analyzes analytics to gauge the success of campaigns. Understands the overall concept of the company, including the brand, customer, product goals, and all other aspects of service. Engages with sponsor contacts and provides service and/or sales. Provide suggestions to management for improving customer experience on social platforms and internal processes. Assists in creating performance reports.
