The 16th annual Pumpkin Run is a 1-mile youth cross-country fun run, the largest run of its kind in the nation!

DATE: Saturday, October 7, 2017

LOCATION: Pioneers Park, Lincoln (3201 Coddington - View map)

TIMES:

Session 1 – Small Schools/Non-LPS Schools: Heat 1 starts at 8:30 a.m.

Session 2 – Large Schools: Heat 1 starts at 10:30 a.m.

Runner order will start with oldest grades proceeding down to the youngest grades.

Please plan to arrive shortly before your scheduled run time. You DO NOT have to arrive at the beginning of your session. Carpooling is HIGHLY recommended as parking congestion is likely with over 3,500 runners and families.  

NOTE:  The Pumpkin Run is a NO SMOKING event.  Please refrain from smoking or vaping on the Pioneers Park premises.  Also, for the safety of our runners and spectators, NO PETS or COSTUMES.

Registration Information

ENTRY FEES:

$10 Per Runner: Through April 30
$12 Per Runner:  May 1 - September 22
$15 Per Runner: September 23 – October 5

ENTRY DEADLINES:

Runners registering through their school must have their completed entry form to their P.E. teacher by Friday, September 22. Registrations WILL NOT be accepted through the schools after September 22.

Registration closes at 11:59 p.m. on Thursday, October 5.

On-site entries WILL NOT be accepted.

NOTE: Parents are allowed to run with their child free of charge. However, if the parents want to receive a Pumpkin Run t-shirt with the run, they need to register online and pay the entry fee. PARENTS, GUARDIANS, TEACHERS AND/OR SIBLINGS OF REGISTERED RUNNERS MAY RUN AT THEIR OWN RISK OF LIABILITY.

Participant Packets


SCHOOL BOXES: Most P.E. teachers will have participant packets (Pumpkin Run shirt, free kids meal for Goodcents Deli Fresh Subs, and two free games of bowling at Sun Valley Lanes) available for the runners at their school sometime between October 4-6. All students/parents should check with the P.E. teacher to find out if/when packets will be available for pick-up at the school.

EARLY PACKET PICK-UP: Entries received via online registration after 5 p.m. on Monday, October 2 WILL NOT be available for pick up at the student’s school. Those late entry runners, along with the runners whose P.E. teachers don't provide packets at the school, can pick up their packets at the Nebraska Sports Council office (4903 N 57th St, Lincoln – View map) on the following dates and times.

Thursday, Oct 5 | 8 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.

RACE DAY PACKET PICK-UP:
Runners who are unable to pick up their packets during the week may stop by the Packet Pick-up tent at Pioneers Park the morning of the run. Depending on the number of entries that come in between October 3-5, shirt sizes may be limited on-site.

 

School Awards


Schools will be divided into a Large School Division (470 or more students) and a Small School Division (469 or less students). Award plaques will be given in the two divisions and award winners will be determined by the percentage of their student body enrolled in the race. The top three schools in each division will receive a plaque. Awards will be determined by entries received by Wednesday, October 5, and will be delivered to winning schools after the run. Schools with at least 10% of their student body registered will also receive a plaque.

Other Information


COURSE: The course will be run in beautiful Pioneers Park, located on the southwest edge of Lincoln. This one-mile course runs over gentle, grass-covered rolling hills. Fans will have a great opportunity to view the runners as they complete their mile run. Pioneers Park is the home cross country course for the University of Nebraska, Nebraska Wesleyan University and all Lincoln area high schools.

GIFTS & PRIZES: All participants will receive a Pumpkin Run t-shirt along with other gifts and goodies from our sponsors.

RUNNER RECOVERY: The runner recovery area is for registered participants ONLY. Parents and siblings, to assure that supply does not run out before the final heats, please do not drink from the runner recovery station.

PARKING: It’s best to enter Pioneers Park using the West Van Dorn Street entrance. Parking attendants will direct participants where to park.

WEATHER: The Pumpkin Run will take place rain or shine. If there is lightning in the area, heats may be delayed. Turn your radio to KFOR 1240 AM for any weather-related delays. If changes need to be made, announcements will be made on site and may be posted here or on the Pumpkin Run Facebook page.
